According to some studies,
“positive thinking” does more harm than good when we are denying reality and
being dishonest to ourselves.
The philosophy of (forced) positive
thinking means being untruthful; it means being dishonest. It means seeing a
certain thing and yet denying what we have seen; it means deceiving others and
ourselves.
We must understand that the
negative is as much part of life as the positive. They balance each other.
Accept only the half-truth could be dangerous.
A half-truth is far more
dangerous than a whole lie, because the whole lie will be discovered by us eventually.
However, we may never discover the
half-truth. That is why it is dangerous.
The real problem is not the whole
lie; the real problem is the half-truth pretending to be the whole truth. That
is “positive thinking”.
The negative ideas of our mind
have to be released, not repressed by positive ideas. We have to create a consciousness
that is neither positive nor negative. That will be the pure consciousness and
in that pure consciousness, we will be able to find a balance in our life.
“Positive thinking” is the philosophy of hypocrisy.
When we are feeling like crying,
it orders us to sing. Those repressed tears will come out at some point, in
some situation. There is a limitation to repression.
Repressing our emotions can
produce an irreparable physical and psychological damage.
Just let us hear our heart.
